Dr. Allison Lowy Apple has worked with children with autism and related disorders in home, school, and in community settings since 1994. Dr. Apple received her PhD in special education with an emphasis in applied behavior analysis and autism from the University of Washington.

During her time at the university, she worked with Drs. Ilene Schwartz, Felix Billingsley, and also Felice Orlich among many other prominent educators in the field. Dr. Apple began her work in New York State in the early 90â™s under the supervision of Dr. Bridget Taylor PsyD, of the Alpine Learning Group, a renowned private school for children on the spectrum. In 1996, Dr. Apple returned to her home town of Seattle and teamed with Dr. Stacey Shook to provide support to numerous student and school districts in the Seattle area. In 1999,

Dr. Apple and four colleagues developed Northwest Behavioral Associates, a not-for-profit organization, where Dr. Apple served as Outreach Coordinator and Assistant Director for 6 years. In 2005, Dr. Apple independently developed A.P.P.L.E. Consulting to address bridging the gap in collaboration in service provision for students with autism across home, school, and other community settings.

Currently, A.P.P.L.E. Consulting supplies educational programming and support to children with autism and related disorders in homes and schools throughout the Pacific Northwest and in Central California. In 2008, Dr. Apple created and executed the development a new A.P.P.L.E. Consulting service: âœP.A.L.S.â (Play, Academic, Language, Social) summer peer groups. P.A.L.S. groups focus on the latest in research as well as best practice in group intervention while paying particular attention to the individual needs of each child with a high studentteacher ratio. P.AL.S. ran its inaugural season in the summer of 2008 providing services to 11 students and 4 peer models in 4 separate groups across 3 age groups (3-5 year olds; 6-8 year olds; 9-11 year olds) in a centrally located Seattle venue.

Dr. Apple also serves as the official liaison at the University of Washington between the UW and the BACB© (Behavior Analyst Certification Board) regarding approved course sequences and practicum. In this role, Dr. Apple developed teaches courses in topics relating to behavior analysis for teachers and ethical issues in special education and serves as a practicum supervisor for graduate students each year. She also sustains a strong interest in applied research; her study on video modeling and self-management can be seen in the Winter 2005 edition of the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions.
